I love what I do!   I attended my first Stampin' Up! workshop with my daughter in 2000.  I was a scrapbooker and found Stampin' Up!'s products to be amazing.  I loved the quality, the coordination, the variety and well most everything.  I tried to find comprable products elsewhere and I didn't find them anywhere.   In March of 2003, I joined the Stampin' Up! family so that I could get a discount on my long (very long) wish list.  When my friends got together with me for a crafting day and we used some of my new Stampin' Up! products, we were hooked.  More importantly, I found something that was missing in my life – a creative outlet that provided me with tons of warm fuzzies when I had the opportunitiy to inspire others with creative projects (yes even those that tell me they have no creative abilities).

Over the years, my business has grown beyond my wildest expectations and is now a bright spot in each and every day.  My husband, Jim and I are very grateful for the opportunities we have been afforded through this creative outlet.  Our customers (many who are now our friends), Stampin' Up! staff, friends across the country, fabulous trips are some of the blessings we are grateful for everyday.

Heartfelt Banner Kit

Posted by on Friday, January 31st, 2014

Did you see this banner kit in the Sale-a-Bration catalog?   It is one of the free items you can get.  Lately I've been in a banner creating mood – and I thought, I want to do something different with this kit.   Here are a couple of examples I did.

MyPixImage (11)MyPixImage (12)

This card uses one of the canvas pieces as well as the chevron strip and doily.   I added the greeting from another Sale-a-Bration freebie – See Ya Later Stamp set.  I also used the Decorative Dots embossing folder – another freebie in the Sale-a-Bration catalog for the texture in the heart.   Don't you love this?   I really like the combination of the Coastal Cabana and the Cherry Cobbler.

MyPixImage (13)MyPixImage (14)

Here I used the felt ball – cut in half for the center of a flower on this gift bag.   The bag is from the Celebrations Basic Kit.   You can see the banner I made with that kit here.  I also used the bag to make a gift bag with the spiral flower die.  You can see that project here.

This kit is has a ton of potential and lots of pieces that you can use in many different ways!    The kit has a value of $19.95 and you get it free during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 order – not that is a great deal when you think of how much you can do with it!

I Heart U garland

Posted by on Monday, January 27th, 2014

MyPixImage (56)

Ever been inspired by something on Pinterest?   That was the case with this – saw something, had the hearts framelits laying out – and here is what happened!  A super quick garland.  Now, there are awesome garland kits in the Occasions catalog, if you have these products, you can have a custom garland in literally minutes!   Here's a closeup for you to check out;

MyPixImage (54)MyPixImage (57)

You can see I used the 2 largest heart framelits and the Fresh Prints DSP (A must have!)   I also used some scraps and with the smallest heart framelit cut out some hearts and ran them through my sewing machine with a long stitch to make the little heart dangly thing on the end.  With a little red glimmer paper – the 3 hearts add that little bling every girl needs.  I also used the Language of Love stamp set for the middle heart – can you see what image I used?

MyPixImage (55)

I sentiment is perfect!   Here are the products I used;

Just Sayin' language of love Love you to the moon

I could see a heart card with 3 to 4 hearts – held together with a brad in the corner for my honies. . . . hmmmmm.

I heart you. . .

Crafting cards for those I love always brings a smile to my face – and this one is an example.  I knew I wanted a window card created with the heart framelits.  The Language of Love (W 133074 $16.95 C 133077 $12.95) stamp set from the Occasions catalog was the perfect fit for this layout.

language of love

I love how the size of the hearts coordinate with punches or the heart framelits.  If you don't yet have hte heart framelits – you need to get them and add them to your collection!

MyPixImage (53)

Here is the inside.  I love that when you open the card, you have such beauty on the inside as well.

MyPixImage (52)

You can see a close up here.  I also used an embossing folder on the bottom.  The sentiment is from Hip Notes in the Occasions catalog as well.

I encourage you to get your paper crafting items out and staft creating your special Valentine cards.  Send me a note – or post a picture on my facebook page – BJ's Stampin' Spot.

ohhhh lala!

Posted by on Thursday, January 23rd, 2014

Ever come home from work and know you need a gift for a co-worker the next day but, don't know what to do – or what to put it in?   That was my dilemma tonight.  For me – a quick gift is a few cards tied with a ribbon or given in a nice little gift bag.  My friends love it – and I have fun creating!   Tonight, I wanted to put my gift in a gift bag.  So, I pulled out a plain bag and used some "leftovers" I'd been playing with and here is what emerged!

MyPixImage (48)

Pretty stinkin' cute right?  I used the new Banners Framelits and the Spiral Flower die.  Plus, I had a couple of customers over – and since they were using the Big Shot and this embossing folder, I couldn't resist trying to emboss the gift bag itself.  I love how it turned out!

MyPixImage (50)

Yes, it was a little tight to crank the bag through but, if you open to tab 2, it goes through just fine.  Cute!  Did you see the sequins?  Love adding just a touch of bling to this project!

MyPixImage (49)

Here's the spiral flower.   I cut 2 pieces – 1 with Primrose Petals and 1 in Cherry Cobbler.  I wrapped them together  and since I used the Coordinations cardstock, I could sand some of the edges to distress it a bit.  The leaf is from the Secret Garden framelits.

Do you love this gift bag?   Interested in my gifting class?  ;Leave me a message or send me an email to get the details.

Did you see that. . . .

Simple Stems from the Occasions catalog coordinates with the Secret Garden Framelits?  Oh my, I do love having a 2 for one deal!   You may remember the Secret Garden stamp set and framelits from the main catalog (p 94).  So, now we have 2 stamp sets – with different looks that coordinate with 1 framelit set!   Now that is a deal!

MyPixImage (9)

I love the simple and clean look of this card.  Quietly elegant is what one of my customers said.  (I think she liked the card a lot!)   Here is what I used;

  • Cardstock & Ink;  Whisper White, Crisp Cantelope, Pistaschio Pudding, Basic Grey
  • Stamp Sets:  Simple Stems, Four You
  • Big Shot;  Secret Garden Framelits
  • Accessories;  Corner Rounder from Envelope Punch Board, Calypso Coral Bakers Twine, Gold Sequin Trim, Stampin' Dimensionals

MyPixImage (10)

You can see that after I cut out the flower with the framelit that I cut out additional layers of the flower and popped them up with stampin' dimensionals.  The addition of a couple of sequins (easily adhered with a glue dot) add just the perfect finishing touch to the card.  The sequins are from the Gold Sequin trim from the Occasions catalog – I just simply took 3 of them off the string that holds them together!  Love it!

Do you want to know a secret?   I have a super duper exciting class coming in February with the Simple Stems stamp set – and you will receive info on how to create  similiar cards with the Secret Garden stamp set!  Oh and should I also tell you it is in a cute little box?   Hmmmm   I sneak peaked my club members and I heard; "sign me up!"  More details to follow.  I will hold 2 sessions for this class based on initial popularity. . . stay tuned!

Here are the deals for the week!  January 21-27!

I do have an order going in so if you are local and want to get in on the weekly deals, just email or call me!

Oh, can you do me a favor?   Leave me a note about the card I posted today – tell me what you think!

Elegant Sympathy

Posted by on Monday, January 20th, 2014

Today I am sharing a sympathy card that I recently created.  I have to admit that making these types of cards is always a bummer to me.  So, when I sit down to make one, I always make several so that I have one on hand.  This time, I was all out.  sad

MyPixImage (6)

I used Happy Watercolor stamp set (W 133188 $29.95 C 133191 $21.95)from the Occasions Catalog.  The image I embossed the image with Pewter embossing powder on vellum cardstock.  I then colored on the back with the Stampin' Write marker.  When you do this, you want to be careful as it will take time to dry.   I punched this out with the 1 3/4" circle punch.  I then used the (wonderful) new starburst framelits (p 34 – can be purchased as a bundle) to add additional color behind the vellum.

MyPixImage (7)

I love the softness of the Pool Party with the whisper white.  I also combined an embossing folder – Fancy Fan with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die (p 26 Occasions 132965 $24.95).

MyPixImage (8)

The result is soft and sweet – just how some sympathy cards should be.

The monthly Chicks, Chocolate and Cards class is this Thursday evening – I still have 3 openings if you are interested, make sure you RSVP.
