Ouch!

on Aug 31st 2011

I had a great time at Woodbury Days last weekend.  I loved meeting so many new customers!   Can't wait for the workshops that are scheduled and to see new people in my classes and clubs!   It was such a great weekend!  Perfect weather. . . yep, everything was great until the end when we were loading up the booth.   That's when the "ouch" happened. .. . . I fell off the back of Jim's truck and broke my wrist.  I'm sure I created quite the site laying out on the street not wanting to get up.  But, the good news is that it isn't a bad break and in a few weeks, I should be good to go!   Meanwhile, I think there may be some limits – especially since it is my right hand.  :(

So, this being the last day of August, I wanted to get a quick reminder out that the wonderful Designer Series Paper special and the Summer Mini Catalog are on it's last few hours!  Here is one of my favorite stamp sets from the Summer Mini;

I love how the focal point is highlighted by the circle from the Pennant Parade Die.  I use this die almost as much for this accent as for the pennant part of the die.

Here are the other ingredients to this card;

Stamp Set;  Fabulous Florets

Cardstock & Ink;  Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso

Accessories:  Perfect Pennant Die, 1 3/4" circle, 2 " circle from circles #2 die, 1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon, 1/8" taffeta ribbon, dimensionals

So, make sure you get your last minute summer mini catalog items or DSP specials!  Remember you can order online or give me a call.  Have a great day everyone!

Blessings!

Faith in Nature

on Aug 25th 2011

Faith in Nature is a pretty cool stamp set found on page 13 – the Hostess section.  I love how it has the wording over the image and can't wait to use this stamp set on the tile coasters – it will be perfect!  If you are looking for a simple card – this one is very simple.  A strip of Beyond the Garden DSP a textured background with the Elegant Lines embossing folder and a touch of Early Espresso accents!   Simple and "pretty cool!"

My favorite man in brown dropped off a package yesterday and it had FREE stamps in it!  !   Can I say, I love this company!   $94.85 value!   Yep and I got to choose them too!

Can't wait to play with these sets!   One of them is from the Holiday mini catalog – which makes it's debut on Sept 1.  If I haven't tantalized you enough with cool projects from the mini – well then just wait until you see what I have saved back!

Remember this weekend is Woodbury Days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Stop by my booth right on the street across from the midway.

Blessings!!!!

New day – New job

on Aug 23rd 2011

Yesterday was an exciting day as I started a new job.  I will be working as a Clinical Service leader in a clinic in Cottage Grove.  The clinic is associated with a large health system and yesterday I attended their corporate orientation.  I wasn't really nervous but, I was wondering how it would go.  As I was driving yesterday morning, I suddenly thought of an old friend who had left my former employer and was working at this health system.  Perhaps God's way of saying this was a good move for me was evident in that I ran into my friend on my first morning.  Pretty amazing when there are 24,000 employee!  My friend had some very encouraging words for me.  So today I am off to my first day at the worksite I will be at.  Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers during my layoff.

Here's your inspiration for today – a gatefold card.  I used to be a little frustrated with these as I couldn't always get the folds right.  Well, starting Sept 1, your problems with this are SOLVED!!!!   You really don't want to miss this must see unveiling!

Here it is open. . . .

Here's a couple of quick notes;   The Designer Series Paper is Beyond the Garden and is one of the papers on sale this month – only a week left to get yours!   The stamp set is Posy Punch from the Hostess collection.  I love how the theme of the card is carried through to the inside of the card with just a simple strip of the same DSP!

Off to get ready for work!   What to wear, what to wear. . . . .

Blessings!

New Layering Punches

on Aug 20th 2011

Remember this card?  It uses one of the new Layering Punches.  The value in these punches really stands out for me because you get 3 or 4 images that go together – all in one punch!  Then you don't have to buy 3 or 4 different punches!   Check out this video from Stampin' Up!

There are 2 of these punches;  Blossom Bouquet and Doily Triple Layer.  Check them out and you'll see the value!

Blessings!

Fall Decoration – sneak peak

on Aug 19th 2011

If you haven't heard me say yet – the Holiday Mini is the BOMB!!!!  I mean supercalifigilisticexpgaligocious (?sp!)  It's the bestest!  Customers should be receiving their copy shortly – and if you don't have it by the end of the month, let me know!   There is SOOOO much super duper stuff in there that you are going to need several months just to get it all!  (or have a show – or join my hostess club so that you get lots of opportunities!)

Today's inspiration is actually a Definately Decorative piece that is in that Mini catalog as a Halloween decoration – complete with bats, spiders, "Happy Halloween" and such.  Well, I put up the tree limb portion for now and added a few flowers for a semi fall motif.

It is sized just perfectly to fit on a door.  And boy do I have plans for this tree limb!   Come October, I'll put up the "intended" Halloween vinyl pieces that come with the set.  After Halloween will come some late fall/Thanksgiving decorations.  Of course in December there will be snowflakes and holiday things – how about a stocking hanging from that tree limb (don't you wish we had a stocking die?).   Oh, I think the possibilities will be endless.

Jim is off to Mayo today (by himself, mind you) for the  year and a half post heart surgery checkup.  A few tests and then the Dr. visit this afternoon.  We think the appointment should go well.  I am back over to my friends in Lakeville (16071 Hyland Ave) for a show.  I'll be doing a demonstration tonight at 7pm – don't miss it!

Here's a little funny for you. . . last May, I purchased Twins tickets for Sunday's game for Jim and I – a date sort of.  Well, he has made other plans so I told him he should sell the tickets.  Handed him the tickets on Monday night and he promptly lost them.  He has been looking for those tickets for days.  Been through the garbage, cleaned his desk (no small accomplishment) and wracked his brain trying to find them.  Yes, there was even the thought that I didn't really give them to him.  Well, he finally found them this morning after 4 days of looking. . . . do you think this is a sign of age?  So, now we have Twins tickets – and he still doesn't want to go. . . so now to figure out what to do.

I'm sure some of you can relate to this little story. . . and hope it brought a smile to your face.  Enjoy your day – and BLESSINGS!

Raining Flowers

on Aug 18th 2011

Here's a card that was totally case'd from a sample that I saw at convention.  It's very striking in appearance don't you think?

The stamp set I used on this card is a new one called Raining Flowers.  (I got it for free for attending convention!)  I like the bold images in this set – and that I have the option to also have line art.  The greeting I used from Petite Phrases.  I really encourage you to take a look at this set.  Look very closely. . . . one of the most asked questions I get about word sets include something about a paired greeting for the outside and inside of a card.  This set has all that!  Now off you go to check it out in the catty!

Here's the other ingredients for this cute card;

Cardstock & Ink;  Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Pear Pizzaz, Brights paper stack

Accessories;  Snowburst embossing folder, Pear Pizzaz seam binding, Paper Piercer, Subtles Brads

Today I'm off to the Five Friends sale in Lakeville – 16071 Hyland Ave  Noon – 8pm – come and see us!  The count down is getting lower to the days before my summer "vacation" ends – only 3 more days!  Yesterday I got my hair cut and colored in preparation.  Nothing special – just the same old thing.  But, it feels great to get it freshened up.

I've got plans to shoot a couple of videos this weekend – so stay tuned for more great ideas!  Blessings!

Sympathy Card

on Aug 17th 2011

I found out that a good friend had a big loss in her family.  I created this special sympathy card to send.  Why is it that we never have enough sympathy cards on hand when we need them?

You'll note several new things on this card.   Let me show you some of the cool things.

First – Designer Frames textured impressions embossing folder set.  There are 2 frames in this set – for only $8.95!

This really creates a nice focal point!  This card will be part of the Hostess Club in September – so come and check it out!  See that the frame works perfectly with the wide oval punch.  There are 2 more punches I used on this card;  the Boho blossoms flower and the Blossom Bouquet triple flower paired with the 1 inch circle punch.  And who says that you can't pair whisper white and very vanilla together.

This card also showcases the Simply Scored tool making it's debut on Sept 1 – another great reason to come to hostess club!

A couple of reminders;

  • Thursday and Friday I will be at the Five Friends sale 16071 Hyland Ave in Lakeville – stop by and see me!
  • Tuesday, August 23 is the Pennant Parade stamp camp.   Check it out HERE!

Have a blessed day!
