That's right – at the Peters house today, it's the annual get together that Jim and I put on for all of our family and friends. We look forward to it. It's lots of work but, it's truly a labor of love. Jim cooks a Booya (a tomato based soup) over a fire.
.jpg)
We'll have over 100 people here later! It's so much fun. . . stop over if you are in the area.
In honor of the Booya, my project today is inspired by that – and my friend Tami. I think Tami was inspired by our friends Susan and Janet. They are all very talented stampers! I did add a couple of improvements – isn't it cute!!!

What a hoot! Or I guess it's a boot!!! Believe it or not, it uses the stocking die from the Holiday mini catalog! And it's got a box in the middle to add a few treats!

I am having so much fun making Halloween stuff this year! Guess I should have done a whole Halloween decor class! Well, I'm off to get stuff ready for later – Have an awesome day everyone!
Blessings!
Holiday Banner
BJ on Sep 23rd 2011
First the Halloween Banner and now a Holiday one. . . Check it out and then let me know if you are interested in a "banner blast"

Oh so cute! Could you just see this hanging on your fireplace for the holidays? Or better yet the squeals of delight as you give this to one of your friends as a gift? So, would you like to create a Halloween Banner like I posted a couple of days ago, a Thanksgiving banner and this Christmas Banner in a class? I'd love to put this together if there is a need fo it! Reply to this post and let me know!
A quick shout to my hostess from last night – Diann! Oh my, she had a great group of friends and a few little extras that made the workshop fun! Looking forward to more FUN with these girls! P.S. My birthday is in Novemeber!
I am off today getting ready for our annual party this weekend. If you follow me frequently, you know that Jim and I do an annual party for our friends and family – a BOOYA. It is a lot of work but, tons more fun! My dad is already here and I am off to do the shopping and a little cleaning today. Then we'll gather tonight to get the vegetables ready. Pics to follow!
Blessings everyone!
Scored last night!
BJ on Sep 21st 2011
Now, read this whole post BEFORE you decide on another meaning for this title! But, I hope it brought a smile to your face! Yes, last night was the Simply Scored class – the ladies LOVED the samples AND the free tutorials I gave them! Yahoo! Here is one of the cards we made;

One of the tutorials was how to made lolli's (or rosettes or medallions or whatever you want to call them!). The tutorial makes it so easy to make and hold them together. On this sample, I used the Simply Scored tool (my newest BFF) for the Pool Party background as well as the rosette in the middle. Of course the paper is from Spice Cake and the stamp set is Gently Falling. I love this card. It is so pleasing to the eye.
Jim and I are getting excited for our annual get together this weekend. Every year on the last Saturday in September, we cook a BOOYA for our family and friends. We have well over 100 people attend. We eat, chat, enjoy each others company, have a scavenger hunt and games for the kids, bonfire, etc. It really is a yearly highlight. Today, my dad is coming for the booya and staying through Sunday. I am a little sad this year as I don't think my 100 (almost 101) year old grandmother may not make it. She has a blast watching everyone, eating and "supervising!" . So, if you're in the area and want to check it out – stop on by! Bring your own beverage and smile!
Blessings!
Scored – just Simply Scored
BJ on Sep 20th 2011
I love the texture that you can create with the Simply Scored tool. Here is a little sneak peak at a card we will be creating at my Simply Scored class tonight.
.jpg)
Check out the background . . . see the scoring every 1/2 inch? Imagine that panel plain and now enjoy it with the added texture – yep – the simply scored tool scores BIG time! This card is a gate fold card – a great layout that was hard to do perfectly before because the folds were at 1/8" segments. And if the folds are exact, then this card just doesn't work. Check out what it looks like open;
So, if you're not busy, I still have a spot available for the class tonight – let me know asap!
Blessings!
Simply Scored class tomorrow!
BJ on Sep 19th 2011
It's not too late – you are going to love the great ideas that I am going to share with you! Plus you'll go home with 2 step by step handouts for making rosettes! The projects will be themed with the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog – in fact you'll go home with a package of it! Check out this adorable sample!

It's a cross over card. . . Here's what it looks like with the inner piece pulled out.

Sweet huh? Send me a quick email or give me a call if you want to sign up. Cost is only $15! Yes – and that's with the DSP!
It was a great weekend here – a little in home vacation on Saturday (that's what my husband calls it when I am gone so, since he was gone, I had a little vacation!) So, I spent most of the day crafting. Then joined my daughter at the Mall of America for a quick dinner and a little shopping. Warning – never go to the Mall of America during scrapfest – there are thousands of crazy ladies and no parking! Chrissy works at the Origins store there and even did my make up for me – it was a treat! Of course I did a little shopping and got a couple of sweaters and a few pairs of pants – my old ones are not fitting – too big – a very nice problem to have!
Today I am starting another 6 week challenge at the YMCA. . . burn 2500 calories a week doing exercise. I'm off to a good start after Body Pump, cardio and a quick 2 mile bike ride this morning. . . now off to work! See ya friends!
Blessings.
It’s S P O O K Y!
BJ on Sep 18th 2011

I have a few customers(names not mentioned to protect their innocence hehe!) who are fanatical about Halloween. As I was thinking about projects to inspire them, I knew I wanted to create a banner – and it was so much fun to create. It's one of those projects where as it comes together, you squeal in delight!
It was relatively quick and easy. The base is the is the Perfect Pennants Die. This is the perfect base for many holiday pennants to come! Oh, and have you seen and heard about how trendy pennants are right now?
.jpg)
Check out how stinkin' cute these pennants are!

Here's a couple of cool tips;
- If you look closely, you'll see that the letters have an irridescent quality to them. I coated each of them with the Smooch peralized top coat. It's easy – it goes on like nail polish and sure adds a ton to the overall look of the banner
- I used the Spider Web textured embossing folder on 2 of the pennants. I coated it with a black stamping pad prior to running it through my Big Shot
- The stamp sets I used are Wicked Cool and Out on a Limb – perfect additions to the banner!
- The Designer Series Paper is Frightful Sight. You'll get some of this paper when you attend the Halloween House Class Sept 29! There's still room!
Make sure you check back tomorrow and several times this week – there are COOL projects in store! Here's the upcoming class list;
- Simply Scored Stamp Camp – Tuesday Sept 20 6:30pm
- Halloween Home Makeover Thursday Sept 29 6:30pm
- Hostess Club October 4,5 6:30pm
- Holiday Card Buffet October 12 9am-12noon
Blessings!
Gently Falling
BJ on Sep 17th 2011

I love fall and the cool crisp air, the wonderful colors in the sky and all over. I was thinking of those colors when I created this simple card for my workshop make-n-takes this month. It uses the awesome Spice Cake Designer Series paper – the colors in this paper are simply awesome! The accent on the Spice Cake paper is the quilted early espresso ribbon from the mini catalog. Yummo!

I also highlighted several techniques on this card. First, I used clear block D as a stamp – yes you read that right. . . .I inked it with my More Mustard pad and then stamped it in the background of this card to create a cool focus point for the multi colored leaf that is the true focal point of the card. The stamp set for the leaf is Gently Falling – I have it in the clear mount and it is so easy to do the 2 stamp stamping with the clear mount – I just love it. And so did my customers last night!!!
Here's how I created the multi-colored look to the leaf. . . . I used stampin' spots in Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Cajun Craze and More Mustard. I simply just inked up parts of the leaf with the different colors. The spots are smaller and easy to control when trying to ink up smaller areas. You could achieve the same results with a marker I suppose.
Don't you love the results? Simple and the cute factor is pretty high!
I do thank you for your patience as I missed a few days of posting. . . things are going well. The broken wrist has healed well and quickly (thank goodness!). The job has been very busy. . . . it takes lots of energy to learn everything – and of course the perfectionist in me doesn't always allow me to go slow or do it just part way. So, I come home at night – and collapse! I know it will get better. . . I am really enjoying my new co-workers. They are a very talented bunch and I am feeling very lucky!
Off to enjoy the weekend – Blessings everyone!
Treats for the weekend
BJ on Sep 8th 2011
Have you seen the awesome little treat bags in the Holiday mini? If you missed them, they are a MUST have! the little 1 x 8 inch bags are so perfect for a little treat! Check out the bucket of them I have ready for Jesse James Days in Northfield this weekend!

Aren't they cute? These are filled with a little licorice but, check out what else you could do – and the possibilities don't stop there! At 50 for $2.50 you'll want to order multiples to have on hand!

The toppers for these fun little (and versatile) bags are so simple. Just fold over a 4" by 1 3/4" piece of cardstock. I added a scallop square punch for a little pizzaz and then used the stamp set Batty For You with a 1 1/4" circle punch and there you have it! Check out the set Batty For You – I have used this set so much for treats for this season!

And if those treats weren't enough. . . .check out what else I made! A little chocolate, sweet and salt are a woman's friend!

I used the stamp set "Got Treats" for this one.

Pretzel rods covered with caramel, almond bark and some cute sprinkles. Sorry though these, don't fit in the 1 x 8" bags in the mini catalog!
I'm up early today for several reasons – I was very excited about clubs this week – several new club members – and oh boy were they happy to be here! So much fun!!!! Hostess club was a blast this month – wasn't it girls! (There's always room for more if you want to get in on the action!). One of the other reasons is my little buddy Barlow – the poor doggie is back to having seizures. He has never had more than 1 in a day and none since we started him on medication in May. Well yesterday he had 2 and he is sure having trouble with arthritis. . . . I'm a little concerned what the future holds. OK, that's all for now – off to work! Oh, yes a little update on the job. It is going well. Everyone is very nice. . . still learning names but, I'm getting there!
Blessings!
