Creative Inking Blog Hop – 2 Step Stamping

Welcome to this month’s Creative Inking Blog Hop.  This month we are focusing on 2 step stamping.  It is one of the easiest techniques in my humble opinion that creates great dimension and a very cool finished look.  I chose to use one of the most popular Product Suites from the new Stampin’ Up! catalog – the Color Theory Product Suite.   The Product suite includes the Colorful Seasons stamp set which is bundled with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits which I have used on this card.  My stash of sympathy cards was pathetically low, so I had to work on replenishing it!

Colorful Seasons, Stampin' Up!, BJ Peters,

What I love about the Colorful Seasons bundle is that it is a stamp set that can be used in all seasons, feminine or masculine – and can spand many generations making it a great staple in your stamp set arsenal.

For this card, I used Garden Green, Bronze Foil and Very Vanilla.  Easy.  Summer, fall or spring.  I found that the leaves were very easy to line up the 2 step stamp because it is a photopolymer stamp set. . . love the peek through ability of the clear stamp!

Here you can see the great accent of the Copper Foil layer.   You’ll also see that I flicked the finished pieces with the Soft Suede marker.  I also used that marker to draw a line around the Stitched Shape oval which contains the sympathy greeting.  It’s an easy accent that packs a punch.

Then check out the Copper Trim!  It’s a loose-weave copper ribbon that has a zig zag pattern that can be pulled apart.  Super fun to work with!

Check out these products in my Online Store!  When you order $50 in merchandise this month, you get a Bonus Days coupon worth $5!  Details here!

I’m Back!

Thailand was absolutely amazing!  Stampin’ Up! did a phenomenal job of treating us to culture, gifts and tons of fun!  As you know, Jim had a conflict so I traveled with my daughter Mandy.  (Stampin’ Up! pays for 2 people).  I apologize for missing a few days. . . I brought back some kind of illness from Thailand that has kept me down and out for a few days.  🙁

Stampin' Up! Thailand

Here we are getting ready to go to the Phi Phi Islands.

Here was the view from our deck.  Angsana Laguna was a gorgeous resort.  We loved walking on the beach of the Andaman Sea, lounging in the lazy river and pool, kayaking and just chatting with demonstrators from all over the world.

Each day there was a HUGE breakfast buffet including authentic Thai food as well as American food.  I LOVED all of the fresh fruit everyday.

Each night we received amazing pillow gifts!   This one contained a new bundle from the Holiday Catalog (can’t share yet) and a Thailand ceramic urn.

Stampin’ Up! had a hospitality room that we could visit everyday.  Treats, candy and drinks galore.  Plus we could toss a bean bag and get new products every day!  Loved these coconut creme brule’s!

The waters and sand were so amazingly blue!  We snorkeled and loved swimming in the ocean.  The waters were so warm.

Stampin’ Up! announced the 2019 Incentive Trip will be a cruise to the Greek Isles.  If you would like to join my team and work towards earning this amazing trip,  check out the Christmas in July special this month!

Masculine Happy Birthday

Every now and then I struggle a bit with creating the masculine cards I need. . . I guess I am drawn to those girlie things.   Here’s a simple masculine card that is super duper easy!

What makes this card is the designer series paper from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper stack.  I love these designer series paper stacks.  They come 6″ x 6″ 48 sheets with 12 double sided designs.  There are 4 of each kind.   It’s a great size and the stack is a great value at only $10!

Just check out these papers. . . . perfect for masculine cards.  And another thing I want to point out. . . . the stamp set I used on this card is the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set which I have used many times in the past week.  Each of those cards had a much more feminine look.  This one certainly isn’t too feminine.  It just goes to show you that the value that stamp set brings is awesome!

And here’s a view from the top.  Remember, I did a video on this tri-fold card.  You can see that here.  One quick note is that I messed up a bit. . . I said one of the folds should be at 6 1/4″ and it should actually be 6 3/4″  oops!

Tips & Tricks with BJ on Tuesdays Circular Frame with Beautiful Bouquet

Happy Tuesday everyone!   Yes, I am in Thailand compliments of Stampin’ Up! but I wanted to make sure that you didn’t miss a session of Tips & Tricks with BJ on Tuesdays!  So, I spent a little time filming while I spent time with family in Northern Minnesota over the Fourth of July.  You might notice a tan face and a very red sunburned chest in the video.

Each year Stampin’ Up! gives us the opportunity to earn a Grand Vacation.  This years trip is to Thailand.  Unfortunately, the timing of the trip didn’t allow my husband to go with (something about a fishing tournament he couldn’t miss).  So, I invited my 2 daughters. . . and 1 of them is going with me.  What a wonderful experience it will be for her.  If you want to follow along with me, check out my Facebook page here!

If you want to learn more about my Stampin’ Up! Journey and create one of your own, you’ll want to check out the special deal for new Stampin’ Up! demonstrators during the month of July!  I would love to have you join my team!

I have admired the raised frames with stamping right over the top for awhile.  Then I saw a non-stampin’ up! card on Pinterest the other day and thought I had to give it a try.  It’s super easy and packs a punch with the raised texture of the circular frame.  I don’t know why it took me so long to try it – it was super easy.

I tried to show you the elevated circular frame in this photo – you might have to add a tish of imagination.  The color palette is Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi and Bermuda Bay.

Thanks for tuning in to Tips & Tricks with BJ on Tuesdays.  Never Miss a video by subscribing to my YouTube Channel here.

Lovely Beautiful Bouquet

I’m calling this my beautiful bunch combination card for more reasons than 1. . . . here’s what I mean;

  1. The first combination is the Lovely Inside & Out stamp set paired with the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (which is bundled with the Beautiful Bouquet framelits).
  2. The second combination is the color palette;  Pear Pizzazz, Berry Burst, Basic Black and Garden Green.  Yummy!

I love how the embossed greeting stands out so boldly.  Having the White embossing on the Basic Black cardstock is perfect!!!   I love the background with the Layering Leaves dynamic textured embossing folder.  This is one of those folders that is thick and thus creates deep impressions in the Pear Pizzazz cardbase layer.

The final finishing touch comes from the Beautiful Bunch stamp set which is bundled with the Beautiful Bunch thinlits.  Remember the bundles come with an automatic 10% savings!   What do you think of the final finishing touch – the Berry Burst crinkled Seam Binding.  This ribbon is so soft and flexible – so easy to work with.

This card just screams with texture and I love it. . . it appeals to me visually and sensually (touch) as well.  What do you think?

Lovely Words

As you may know, I was up in Northern Minnesota over the fourth of July holiday.  My husband lives up there from March to November each year helping my dad with a home he owns there.  My dad is able to card for himself but caring for the beautiful property there is a bit much.  And eventually the home will be ours.

I don’t know about you but, when I travel, you can’t bring all of your stamping supplies, so you work within the limits of what you have.  On my stamping table was this piece of Naturally Eclectic designer series paper.  I think it lended itself perfectly to highlight the Lovely Word thinlit.

Lovely Inside & Out, Lovely Words Thinlits, BJ Peters, Stampinbj.com, Stampin' Up!

The Lovely Inside & Out stamp set bundled with the Lovely Words Thinlits for a 10% savings are an absolute favorite of mine from the 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! annual catalog.  If you do a search on my website for this bundle, you’ll find a great number of adorable samples to inspire your creativity!

I’ve also used this bundle in 2 videos I have done.  This one is my favorite but, this one is a close second!   Which is your favorite?
