Flower Garden – retiring

Flower GardenFirst – thank you everyone for your patience during the Typepad's (my blogging platform) cyber attack – and thus my blog being down.  :(   I was down and bummed – but uplifted by the number of emails I received asking if everything was OK because my blog hadn't been updated!   Oh I love each of you for caring so very much!   To thank you, I have randomly selected 10 customers to receive a special package from me – it is free shipping you know – so, what better way to celebrate than a free delivery from Stampin' Up!  Watch for your UPS man!  I hope you post what you received in your package!

OK, off to today's inspiration.  As you know the retired lists have been posted.  You can see them HERE.   On the retired list is the Flower Garden embossing folder.  (#123113).   We used this folder to make a very similar card a few years ago and I thought of it right away when I saw that embossing folder on the retired list.

Flower Garden 2

The key to success with this card is not being exact as you color the vellum.  If you look closely, there is not any exactness (hope that's a word!) to my coloring.  So, if you are looking for a card that you don't have to stress about staying in the lines – this is it!

Amazing So Very Grateful

So very grateful 9
Isn't this beautiful?   Wow!   Just stunning.   If you don't yet have the So Very Grateful stamp set from the Occasions catalog -you must not be following my blog because these are sample pics 9 and 10 of this set!

  • Black, Daffodil & White here
  • Celebrating here

I must be in love with it!  The other day, my craft table was just a mess with a hodge podge of everything on it – and this scrap of DSP after I did my card buffet cards.  In looking at it, I couldn't decide if it was Crisp Cantaloupe or Calypso Coral.  So, I decided to see what the 2 would look like together – and this is the result.   Just so you know, the designer series paper is from the retiring collection "Ecetera" – and the main color is Calypso Coral.

So Very Grateful 10You can see from this close up how I have married the two colors together on this card.  It really makes a stunning contrast.  When our Blendabilities (alcohol markers) become available, I will be blending this card in a different way.  Other supplies used are;

  • stamp set;  Lots of Thanks, So Very Grateful
  • Paper & Ink;  Stazon Black, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Very Vanilla, Ecetera
  • Big Shot; Pretty Print embossing folder
  • Accessories;  2 1/2" circle punch, Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals

Yep – pretty much love this card.  It's got to be the color combo.

On another note, I want to share a picture of some gifts that went out of my studio this week. . .

Thank YouA friend of mine ordered gifts for her friends for Easter.   This is a package of 4 thank you cards and envelopes.   Packaged in a clear bag with a beautiful ribbon and matching tag.   Love giving handmade gifts.  Consider making something like this the next time you need a special gift.

Ready for the other carrot?   Check this out;

CarrottYes – a real carrot filled with Easter treats.   Won't they look cute on your Easter table?   Everyone will love them – it will be like shaking Christmas presents to guess what kind of treat is in them!   Want to know how to make them?   Here's the tutorial

Start with a 4" x 6" piece of paper.  You will use sticky strip adhesive down one long side (on the right side of the paper) and one short side (the inside).  It's like a sour cream container.  Fold to adhere the long side together first.  Then pull off the covering of the inside sticky strip and adhere the bottom end together.  As you do this, make sure the seam from the long side is in the middle – not on the edge.  The secret to the sour cream container is to have the short side seams different – one in the middle and one on the side.

CarrottStampin' Supplies;

  • Stamps;  I used a line image to add texture to the pink part of the ears.  The image I used is from the February Paper Pumkin.  I stamped it tone on tone with Pink Pirouette.
  • Cardstock;  1 1/2" x 4" Pear Pizzaz for the grass, Whisper White
  • Punches;  Full Heart Punch, Oval Punch, Small Oval Punch, 1/4" circle punch (part of itty bitty punch pack on sale this week)
  • Accessories;  Fringe scissors, dimensionals, glue dots

Make sure you fill with your favorite treat before stapling shut!

What do you think about the 2 carrotts?    I love them both!   Make it a great day!

So, now that I have shared my "happy" card and how I am going to use it, my challenge to you is;  Who do you need to share a little "happy" with?  What's better than sharing a handstamped card and a little note – it would take you minutes to make someone's day – and it is so worth those few minutes!   Leave me a note and let me know who you shared your "happy" with!   I'd love to share that great feeling with you of that little warm hug you get when you've done something great!

A couple of reminders;

Too excited to not share!

This morning, I finally took a little time to create something just for me.  The last 2 weeks, I've been playing catch up and applying for jobs.   So today – the "me" time.  Here is what I've been wanting to do;

PinIt's a pin!   I used the spiral flower die, a little denim, felt and our lace trim.   I love it!   What do you think?  Leave me a comment and let me know.

Happy Happy Birthday Basics

Birthday BasicsIn anticipation of the retiring list coming on April 21, I am looking at some of the products that will (sadly) be leaving us. . . . One of them will most likely be this DSP – Birthday Basics.   If you have any birthdays to make cards for – you need this paper!  Look at how perfect it is for a birthday card!

Birthday Basics DSPIn addition,the base of this card is Raspberry RIpple – and the ribbon is Raspberry Ripple – an In Color that will also be leavning us.  As another reminder, make sure you stock up on the cardstock, ink, ink refills and ribbon before April 21 – because once the accessory list posts, it is is while supplies last only.  Every year, someone misses out and makes me sad – don't want to have that this year!  🙂

Here's a reminder of the In Colors that are retiring;

  • 2012-2014 In ColorGumball Green
  • Midnight Muse
  • Primrose Petals
  • Raspberry Ripple
  • Summer Starfruit

I'm off to the post office today with a large bundle of Classes in the Mail!   Yippee!   So, if you ordered one – watch your mailbox for a super fun package!
